Shopify Advanced App

We’re excited to announce the imminent release of our all-new app for Shopify.

New from the ground up, this version features:

  • Real-time shipping
  • Advanced Smart Pack package optimisation – automatically provides the best packing solution based on cart items and packaging available
  • Highly configurable pricing rules based on customer location, cart items and value
  • Compatibility with Shopify Retail POS

Getting Ready for Advanced

To use real-time shipping, you need to have carrier-calculated shipping added to your plan (it comes with the ‘Shopify Advanced’ plans and over, but costs another $20/month for ‘Shopify Basic’ and ‘Shopify’ plans)

Not all pricing packages come with the ‘Carrier API’ access needed for real-time shipping, so if you aren’t on the ‘Shopify Advanced’ plan or higher, get in touch with the Shopify guru team by phone, chat or email – go to https://support.shopify.com

Shopify App: Order Fulfillment

‘Fulfilling’ an order is where you finalise shipment. As a merchant, you will load the order within the Smart Send app, select a shipping option and then book the shipping.

The Order

You can access the order in the Smart Send app from the front page of the App itself, or from within the Shopify Orders page in the dashboard of your store.

Go to the orders page from the left-hand tab, and select an order you wish to fulfill. Then, click on the button with three dots on it in the top-right corner:

Products

Before you can fulfill an order, each product in the order must have dimensions and a cost specified.

If these are missing from any of the products, you’ll be asked to add them before the order can be fulfilled.

You can click on the Products menu link and go straight to all of your store products, and manually add this extra data there.

The following video talks about correcting errors with the addressee of the order and product attributes.

Packing in Packages

To get the best possible shipping quote, you can tell the app how you’ll be packing the order. Specify an existing Australia Post parcel or Cuoriers Please / Fastway pre-paid satchel, or you can add your own packages.

Booking the Shipping

Finally, we talk about actually booking the order and getting a printable shipping label.

Click on Store Settings from the top bar, and you’ll be taken to the settings screen.

Under Credentials, you’ll need to enter your Smart Send VIP credentials – if you don’t have an account yet, go to https://www.smartsend.com.au/vipClientEnquiry.cfm and apply for one.

Company Details

This is mostly contact info for pickup; if you aren’t a company, leave the Company Name field blank. Contact info is required for everyone, this is the info that the courier will use to get in touch if needs be.

Pickup Details

These revolve around where and how to shipments are collected – actual physical address, preferred collection window and tail-lift parameters. Set the Tail-Lift Truck setting to the maximum weight you can handle yourself – anything over that and we’ll prompt you to choose a tail-lift truck at fulfillment time.
