Simply unzip the downloaded zip file in to the modules directory.
Go to modules/smartsendshipping/configure
First up you’re going to need to enter your Smart Send VIP account credentials. If you don’t have an account yet, go to https://www.smartsend.com.au/vipClientEnquiry.cfm Alternatively, email firstname.lastname@example.org and we can set you up with a test account.
This makes up the ‘from’ part of the shipping quote calculation – we just need the suburb and town.
In addition, in the ‘Tail Lift at Pickup’ field, you can enter an amount in kilograms; if any items in the cart are over this weight, the quote will allow for a tail-lift truck to collect the shipment.
For shipping calculations, you need to set product weight and dimensions. If you configure Package Options calculations will default to those details if the item has no dimensions or weight.
These options control how the package is delivered and what charges are applied.
Handling Type / Handling Fee allows you to add an additional amount to the shipping price – either a flat amount or as a percentage of the cart total.
Transport Assurance will cover the shipment against loss. You can specify a minimum amount (cart total) at which this will apply.
Receipted delivery will ensure that the recipient signs for the item.
Tail Lift Delivery, is set to ‘yes’, will specify a tail-lift delivery vehicle if any items are over 30kg.
The Smart Send Australian Shipping App allows you to ‘fulfill’ orders using Smart Send Australian shipping.
You can install the app from either within the Shopify App Store or from the Smart Send app. From within your Shopify store’s admin area, click on Apps in the left hand panel, then select the blue Visit the App Store button at top right of the screen and search for ‘australian shipping’, or go to https://apps.shopify.com/australian-shipping-by-smart-send (you should be logged in first) Then click the big green Get button.
Make sure that under Settings -> Checkout, under the Order Processing section, you have ‘Do not automatically fulfill any of the order’s line items‘ selected.
After installing and activating the Smart Send app, you can set options by either going directly to https://shopify-app.smartsend.com.au/prefs.php or from within your Shopify dashboard – click on Apps and then click on the Smart Send app banner.
Click on Store Settings from the top bar, and you’ll be taken to the settings screen.
This is mostly contact info for pickup; if you aren’t a company, leave the Company Name field blank. Contact info is required for everyone, this is the info that the courier will use to get in touch if needs be.
These revolve around where and how to shipments are collected – actual physical address, preferred collection window and tail-lift parameters. Set the Tail-Lift Truck setting to the maximum weight you can handle yourself – anything over that and we’ll prompt you to choose a tail-lift truck at fulfillment time.
